Although Michael Flatley was said to have danced his last dance in Hyde Park on July 1998, this Lord Of The Dance knows all too well where his true passion lies

Michael Flatley has always known how to wow his audience and his fans, and on September 21, 1999, he did just that. For this event, Michael Flatley, whose legs are insured by Lloyd's of London for £25m, had been insured for a further £15.6m to cover a one-time stunt spectacular involving 30-feet-high flames.

Appearing in his first press conference since Feet of Flames, Michael Flatley announced that he will headline the Feet Of Flames tour beginning March 3, 2000 in Erfurt, Germany.

This much anticipated tour is the result of his Feet Of Flames show held in July 25, 1998 at Hyde Park, to an audience of 25,000. The show, now on video and its soundtrack on CD, can be found here.

The press conference, held at the beautiful Burg Satzvey, just 50 kilometers from Cologne, Germany, featured Michael Flatley bathed in mist and fire, emerging from a crystalline lake, only to disappear in a cloud of smoke as he walked on water. His troupe was also in attendance.

When asked about his health, Michael, appearing tanned and very muscular, stated that he was in 'the best condition ever', having spent 4 months in Malibu, California working out as well as working on 2 film scripts, and a book. He said that he had been examined by doctors from Lloyd's of London, who had insured his legs for a hefty 50 million dollars in 1997. In an interview earlier this year, Michael said that although "I didn't want to stop dancing...my body was taking a very severe beating over a sustained period of time."

Dancing, it seems, is Michael Flatley's passion, and it shows with his upcoming Feet of Flames tour.

Although Michael could not delve into specifics about the tour, he did state that he will perform in each show throughout its run, which includes Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 2000.

When asked if he would ever have time to live in the many houses he has recently purchased through the years, Michael said that he has always "loved old houses", and that he was tired of living in hotel rooms. He was also hoping his parents could use the homes as well. Having purchased a slew of homes including a nine-bedroom mansion in London once owned by vaudeville star, Lillie Langtry, Michael has also bought Castlehyde, once owned by the first president of Ireland, Douglas Hyde, for a reported 3 million pounds.
