MICHAEL FLATLEY RETURNS BACK ON STAGE WITH SPECTACULAR
"FEET OF FLAMES"
MILLENNIUM WORLD TOUR 2000Michael Flatley today announced during an extremely spectacular press conference his comeback to the world's stages.
At the bottom of the picturesque Burg Satzvey near Cologne he rose from the depths of a fiery lake and made details public about his first appearances after 18 months away from stage within the scope of his so far most ambitious project.
The "Feet of Flames 2000 World Tour", the new, phenomenal mega-production of Michael Flatley, will be the dance event for the millennium. Fifty dancers who had performed with Michael Flatley in front of 25,000 totally thrilled fans in the summer of 1998 at London's Hyde Park will go on tour with this show.
In this greatest dance show, without a doubt, Michael will appear in the presence of one million fans in five countries during the first hundred days of the European part of the world tour which starts in the spring of 2000. "Feet of Flames 2000" will include more than 100 performances during its first leg of the tour.
The tour begins on Wednesday, March 1, in Germany. From there, the production then goes on to Belgium, Austria, Netherlands and Switzerland, in the course of which the absolute highlight will be a performance at the legendary "Waldbühne" in Berlin on Sunday, July 23rd. (Photo at right)
The second part of the world tour consists 100 performances in the United States and more shows in Great Britain, Ireland and Europe. Details for the second leg of the Feet of Flames Millenium World Tour will be announced soon. Meanwhile, preparations of the tour have already started.
First, the design of the breathtaking stage set are put into action; new choreography and costumes are planned. By the end of 1999 the complete production will start with intense rehearsals, wherefore Michael will again take over the chief control.
Flatley, whose feet are insured for vertiginous 40 million US$, came to an agreement for his present-day, single appearance with another insurance for 25 million US$ and commented his performance jokingly with the words: "I have done other hot things before, but what I just experienced was simply incredible. It was the most fascinating experiences I've had in my life."
Speaking about the upcoming World Tour 2000 he stresses: "The Feet of Flames World Tour will be my greatest and most ambitious project and I can hardly wait to be back on stage and dance."
Since its first performance nearly three years ago in Dublin, the world reknowned Lord of the Dance production of Michael Flatley turned into an international phenomenon.
To date, there are four Lord of the Dance ensembles dancing around the world at this time. One ensemble is on permanent tour in Europe; another ensemble tours the United States; a third ensemble performs continuously in Las Vegas, and a fourth performs daily in Disney World in Florida.
With more than 2,500 performances in every major city, more than five millions visitors have already seen Lord Of The Dance. This remarkable achievement, as well as the success of the videos "Lord of the Dance" and The Hyde Park "Feet of Flames", which have been sold more than 4.5 million copies around the world, established Michael Flatley as one of the most innovative and most popular artists of the planet.
