"Rua" comes from the Irish for "red hair" (ruadh). In Irish myths, red hair signified strength, fiery passion and tenacious temperament. Madden and Mulhall (yes, that's the hair they were born with) bring that passion to their music in a mix that has been described as "Enya meets Puccini." The CD features artists like Ronan Browne, Tommy Hayes, and Tiarnan O'Duinnchinn.

Violinist and keyboard player Gloria Mulhall has worked with The Corrs, Phil Coulter, Sarah Brightman, and many more. Co-composer and arranger for Rua, Mulhall says that "I see our music as being Irish music rather than defined in terms of some narrow period of Irish history."
