| Colin Dunne entered his first Irish dance competition at the age of four. Supremely talented, he was the first person to win the Irish, English and World Championships in the same year and was named Irish Dancing World Champion an outstanding nine times. In 1998 he was given the prestigious Irish Post Award proclaiming him to be "The Greatest Male Irish Dancer Of All Time". Colin became Irish Dancing World Champion for the first time at the age of nine. He was trained at the Marion Turley Academy in Coventry and success continued until he retired from competition in 1991, having won the world Championship nine times and eleven British titles. In 1985, Colin was the subject of a nation-wide TV documentary showing how he had managed to successfully combine the history of Irish dancing with contemporary attitudes. Colin has toured the world giving lectures and workshops and has released his own video, Celtic Feet, giving basic instruction in the art of Irish dancing. Colin joined Riverdance - The Show in 1995 to take the role of lead dancer performing to sell-out audiences worldwide until he left the show in June 1998. During this world tour, Colin performed for both Royalty and Presidents including President Clinton and performances at the Royal Variety Show. Colin then teamed up with his former dancing partner Jean Butler, to work on devising Dancing On Dangerous Ground. Colin and Jean have been involved in every aspect from original concept to choreography to casting and they perform the principal roles. back |
