Tønder Festival, one of the world's premier Celtic and roots festivals, is making some exciting changes for this year's festival. Running from August 23 to 26 in beautiful rural Denmark, the festival is adding new stages and an innovative new festival site for a more personalized festival experience. Featured artists include Celtic Cafe favorites The Saw Doctors, Runrig, and Heidi Talbot as well as great new Scottish acts Manran and Ross Couper & Tom Oakes. Celtic Cafe correspondent Michael G. In a career spanning 50 years, "Bard of Armagh" Tommy Makem's name was synonymous with the very best in Irish music. Makem passed away on August 1, 2007, at the age of 74: Ireland has lost a sweet singer indeed, and not an angry one.
