JAMES:
Do you ever play practical jokes
on the troupe members?
CATHY: Absolutely.
All the time.
JAMES:
What sort of things do you get
up to?
CATHY:
Most of its offstage, because you have to be careful what you do onstage.
We’ve had times where we’ve bought crew members onstage for the
last shows and things like that, but you really have to be careful because
there’s still a paying audience out there.
But there’s a lot of jokes, but there very subtle and usually
offstage.
JAMES:
Do you have a lot of free time
before the show?
CATHY:
It depends if you’re travelling in the day to get to the venue - then
you don’t have a lot of time. We
travel most of the day, and then we have an hour or two at the hotel
before coming to the venue. Most
of the time is spent going out and doing the laundry and buying necessitates
if you have time, because otherwise we sleep.
We try to sleep as much as we can because we’re fairly nocturnal
people. During the day... we
try to do as much as we can.
JAMES: Do you try to keep to
any kind of special diet?
CATHY:
No, not really! I don’t!
Maybe some of the others do but it just depends if you’re happy
with yourself. There’s no weight restriction here.
JAMES: What sort of food do you
have to eat before the show?
CATHY:
A lot of fruit, a lot of carbohydrates. Pasta is really good, and bananas... and sugar.
And loads and loads of water before the show!
